[UPDATED] Interactive Heat Map: H7N9 in China


We have updated the HTML5 Heat Map for the H7N9 situation in China lately. From the heat map, regions that are seriously hit by the disease are highlighted. You can mouseover the regions to get the details.

The map will be updated regularly to showcase the latest situation, and the Custom H7N9 Google Map with the detailed information will be released next week.

Interactive UK Map: 2012-2013 Premier League

2012-2013 Premier League was just ended on 19 May 2013 with Manchester United as the Champion this season. An interactive UK map is created for showcasing the result that icon in larger size represents higher ranking.

The 21st season of the Premier League began on 18 August 2012 and ended on 19 May 2013. On 22 April 2013, Manchester United won their 13th Premier League title and 20th English title overall by defeating Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Google Map: Cities Anti Agro Giant Monsanto



There was a movement called ”March Against Monsanto” for against the Agro Giant Monsanto (GMOs) on May 25. It was estimated that 2 million people around the world have participated in this campaign, and a custom Google Map has been created for pinpointing the locations with the posts from Twitter and Facebook.

According to organizers of this movement, this global demonstration took place in 436 cities in 52 countries, and you can see the photos from Twitter / Facebook by clicking the above styled map image.

International Museum Day 2013 – Reviews Social Changes with Memories

The annual International Museum Day (May 18) has come to the corner already, so we have created an interactive map to introduce the most visited museum in the world in 2012. Mouse over the map to get the details, and do not miss the chance to join the IMD this year!

Embed HTML5 Maps to WordPress

Recently there are increasing inquiry about export and embedding created HTML5 to blogs / websites for presentation. We have created two video tutorials about embedding interactive HTML5 map to WordPress and exporting HTML5 map to static image.

You can easily embed interactive HTML5 maps to different websites or blogs, and here is a demonstration for embedding editable maps to WordPress.org:

Interactive World Map: View New Zealand and Pacific from Space


You can now view New Zealand and the Pacific from space in the above clickable Google Map, which is credited to two astronauts who returned to Earth on May 14.

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield and NASA’s Thomas Marshburn came back to Earth after five months aboard in the International Space Station. Hadfield and Marshburn have shared amazing photos of our planet in the past five months on social media.

Now you can click on the map to see the pictures that token from the space, and the caption from the astronauts.

Heat Map: Latest US Beer Exercise Tax Rate

Tax Foundation has just posted a heat map about the State Beer Exercise Tax Rate in 2013. Check the following heat map image and you can see the latest tax rate and the ranking within the US for each state.

Annotations of the State abbreviation can be replaced by tooltips, and details can be added to the map by inserting description box.

Clickable heat map is the trend of mapping data as detailed information can be inserted which various content types (e.g. images, videos, external links), for example the US heat map that showcases the distribution of Democratic Senator supports same-sex marriage.

Clickable Google Map: WWF Tuna Tracking in Philippines


The WWF Coral Triangle Global Initiative has created an interactive Google Map for tracking the adult yellowfin tunas in the waters of Mindoro Occidental, Philippines.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF), cooperated with the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), is doing an experiment about providing data to scientists from pop-up satellite tags that have been attached to adult yellowfin tuna in the Coral Triangle. Four fishes, named Amihan, Badjao, Hagibis and Buhawi, have been tagged, and their detailed information and moving routes can be seen in the tracking map.

Interactive World Map: Freedom Predators

An interactive Google Map about the “Freedom Predators” has been created by Reporters Without Borders, based on the report released in 2013, accompanied the World Press Freedom Day last week.

The clickable Google Map has pinpointed those political predators, and details have been inserted into the pins. Red pins indicate newly added predators while the green pins indicates the removed predators.

Some people have commented that new predators are mainly in Asia and Middle East (e.g. Kim Jongun from North Korea, Xi Jinping from China). Click on the map to get the full picture of the current world politic condition now!



Custom Google Map: Falling Fruit – Time to Shake the Trees

An interactive custom Google Map has been created for displaying the locations where fruits and veggies are free for taking.

The map was created by Caleb Philips and Ethan Welty, who are the avid foragers, in March. There are thousands location has been pinned on the Google Map, and you can see the clustering number when you zoom out the map. You can see the location details by zooming in and click on the marker. Detailed information, e.g. type of plants, best season to pluck the produce, a link to the species profile on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website, and any additional advice of accessing the location are also being displayed in the infobox.

Since there are countless locations for getting the falling fruit, people are always welcome to provide locations and information, and contribute to the map content.
